Privacy Policy
Short version: Dockling is built to be quiet. The app runs locally on your Mac. The website collects only what we need to process payments and understand which pages people find useful. We don't sell or share your data, and we don't train AI models on your photos.
What the desktop app stores
Dockling stores your settings, pet packs, notes, and Pomodoro history in ~/Library/Application Support/Dockling/ on your Mac. None of that leaves your machine. There's no account, no cloud sync, no telemetry from the app itself.
What the website collects
When you visit dockling.space we record basic, anonymous events (page views, clicks on buy buttons, whether a generation succeeded) so we can see what works and fix what doesn't. These events are stored in Supabase and are not linked to a named identity. We use a randomly generated visitor ID kept in your browser's local storage; clearing your browser data clears it.
Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe receives the information needed to charge you and sends us a receipt with your email and the amount charged so we can verify the purchase and email you a download link if needed. Stripe's privacy policy applies to that data.
Custom pet generation
When you upload a photo to make a custom pet, the image is sent to a third-party AI image generation service to render pixel art. The service returns the rendered frames; we package them into a .zip and serve it back to your browser. We retain the original photo and the generated pack in private storage so we can review generation quality, fix bugs, and detect abuse. Access is restricted to the Dockling team and the bucket is not publicly readable. We do not use uploaded photos to train any model and we do not share them with anyone outside the AI generation provider needed to render your pet. Email hello@dockling.app to request deletion.
The browser-side flow temporarily holds the .zip in IndexedDB so it survives the Stripe redirect — that's on your machine, not ours, and it's cleared after you download.
What we do NOT collect
- No tracking pixels from advertising networks.
- No cross-site tracking cookies.
- No selling or sharing of your data with brokers.
- No biometric processing of uploaded photos.
- No training of any model on what you upload.
- No sale or sharing of uploaded photos with anyone outside the AI generation provider.
Cookies
The site uses essential storage only — a visitor ID (random string) and, after generation, a temporary pack reference so we can deliver your download. No advertising or analytics cookies.
Your rights
You can ask us what we have, delete it, or correct it by emailing hello@dockling.app. We'll respond within a week. If you're in the EU/UK you have GDPR rights including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Third parties we use
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Vercel — website hosting and serverless functions.
- Supabase — anonymous event logging.
- An AI image generation service — renders custom pet pixel art from uploaded photos.
Children
Dockling is not directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If a child has provided data, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and surface a notice on the site. The current version always lives at dockling.space/privacy.
